Thomas M. Patrick
Immediate Past Chair
Tom
Patrick is chairman, president and chief executive officer of
Peoples Energy Corporation, a position he assumed on August 1, 2002.
Previously, he had served as president and chief operating
officer of Peoples Energy since 1998, when he also became a member
of the company’s Board of Directors.
After
joining the company in 1976 as an attorney in the Legal Department, Mr.
Patrick represented the company in cases at the Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission and before the Illinois Commerce Commission.
He was elected vice president and deputy general counsel in
1989 and, two years later, was elected vice president of Regulatory
Affairs and Gas Supply. In
1996, he was named executive vice president.
An
active industry member, Mr. Patrick has served on the board of
directors of the Gas Industry Standards Board.
He serves on the Board of Directors of Aegis and American Gas
Association (AGA) Board of Directors.
In addition, he is also a member of the Board of Trustees of
the Gas Technology Institute.
Mr.
Patrick received his BA degree at
Washington
State
University
in 1969 and a JD degree at the
University
of
Chicago
in 1973. He completed
the Advanced Management Program at
Harvard
University’s
Business
School in 1992.
He
is a member of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of
Chicago, Economic Club of Chicago, the Executives Club of Chicago
and the Illinois Business Roundtable. He is on the boards of
Children's Memorial Hospital, the Chicago Urban League, the Adler
Planetarium and Big Shoulders.
Peoples
Energy is a diversified energy company comprised of five primary
business segments: Gas Distribution, Power Generation, Midstream
Services, Retail Energy Services, and Oil and Gas Production.
The Gas Distribution business serves about one million retail
customers in Chicago and northeastern Illinois.
